The National Kishu Club membership has been involved in the import of 6 new Kishu Ken to the USA between 2020-2021. At least 4 of these dogs have been imported or are being prepared for import to help grow the foundation stock in the USA. We owe this to NAKC breeders, interested new enthusiasts, and in part to a grant opportunity from GoodDog.com
Our initial foundation uses primarily hunting-line dogs and the population of NAKC Kishu Ken in the USA is largely descended from a single male from the famous Hosoda hunting line of Kishu Ken which has provided us with a well of diversity and good, personable temperaments. With 3 of these new imports coming directly from Japan and directly descended from NIPPO-winners, our hope is to bridge the gap between what is being produced in Japan as far as breed type and what is being produced in the USA as far as breed appearance to help keep our dogs as close to the NIPPO and NAKC standard as possible. As an introduction, here is one of our newest pups to be imported to the USA: Sakura no Shin go Himeharu sou. "Jundo", as he will be called by his new owner, is a show line male out of the familiar Himeharu sou kennel bred by Suzuki-san. Himeharu sou has produced and exported typy, well-balanced, nice-tempered dogs with good skin and coat and Jundo has the potential to be an invaluable asset to the breed here in the USA. He is a nephew to one of our other foundation stock prospects, Sakura no Bunta go ("Shogun", owned and imported by a private party) and more distantly related to one of our other foundation dogs, Nami no Aima go ("Jason", owned and imported by club member CJ Hammond.) Our friends in Japan who are watching Jundo before he can make his trip report that he is a quick understudy who has potty trained quickly and is a very easy to live with puppy. If you are interested in importing or co-owning an import, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email at info@kishuclub.com In the meantime, here's little Jundo waiting for transport in Japan with Baron, a full brother to NAKC Foundation Dog, Taro, from that aforementioned Hosoda line of hunting dogs.
