Finding sports and events Kishu Ken are eligible for can be an overwhelming task to the new exhibitor and handler. This page has been established to help navigate the ever-growing list of sports Kishu Ken are proven in or may enjoy while helping enthusiasts find these events.

Conformation

Kishu Ken are an internationally recognized rare breed eligible for conformation shows in the following US venues:
  • UKC Conformation
    • UKC permits Kishu Ken to be fully registered and recognized to compete for their CH titles. Because of this, UKC is the current foremost registry for showing Kishu Ken in conformation. UKC allows altered dogs.
  • NIPPO-USA matches
    • NIPPO-USA matches happen once a year through the Colonial Shiba club. Kishu Ken are fully recognized with NIPPO and this is an opportunity to have an exhibitor's dog examined by a COO judge appointed by NIPPO.
  • AKC OPNC & MHBC
    • AKC-FSS registered dogs may compete in "Open Shows" for their CM post-title or B-Matches for fun.
  • IABCA Conformation
    • IABCA recognizes the Kishu Ken and judges them against the NAKC and FCI standards complete with a written critique from judges they are shown under. These shows mirror FCI club shows and titles are applied for based on the individual rating of the dog rather than direct competition with other dogs of the same breed.
